Should You Rent a 1 Bedroom Apartment or a 1 Bedroom Plus Study?
There are many 1 bedroom apartments for rent in Kamloops although their square footage and space-efficiency vary greatly.At Summit Village, our 1 bedrooms are 515 square feet, and for many singles, students and couples, they work well because they are thoughtfully designed, have plenty of cupboards and closet space, and each unit comes with its own personal storage locker.
There are, however, many reasons you might want a little more space. Our 1 bedroom plus study suites have an 8’ x 10’ study that can be used for many different purposes.
Below are several ways you could use the study.
- A second bedroom
In our buildings, a study in a 1 bedroom plus study unit is large enough that it can be used as a second bedroom, therefore they can accommodate two people. We allow a maximum of two adults to rent a 1 bedroom plus study and both people have to be on the tenancy agreement. - A home office
Whether you have work-from-home days in your day job or are self-employed, a home office is ideal. While you could work from the living room couch and coffee table, working that way is uncomfortable, disorganized and there are many distractions. - Craft room
If you craft and you’ve been using the kitchen table or living room floor or coffee table to do so, then you know how inconvenient it is. You have to set up and break down every time you want to enjoy your craft. If you have a craft room, you’ll have lots of space to get creative and don’t have to put in-progress projects away. - Music practice room
if you play a musical instrument, a practice room is a huge benefit. Instead of your music stand, instrument case, sheet music and other equipment cluttering other living space, you can have a dedicated music practice room. Your concentration will improve and you’ll make more steady progress as a musician. - Home entertainment room
Many people dream of having enough space for a home entertainment room, man-cave or she-shed. Use the extra room for watching movies or listening to music or podcasts. A comfy couch or a couple of lounge chairs are all you need to live the dream! - Yoga, meditation or exercise room
If you do yoga, meditate or are into body-weight-only exercise, you can have your own oasis for the purpose. Although each of our buildings has a fitness room, some people prefer to workout in private. - A multi-use room
With a little imagination, the study could serve several purposes. If you use multifunctional furniture, your home office could double as home theatre/music room, for example. With the right furnishings, you may be able to combine three of the activities from the list above. Think a little outside the box and browse multifunction furnishings to see what’s possible.
