Summit Village Residences consists of 88 upscale rental apartments. With modern style and features, in-suite laundry, air conditioning, enhanced on-site security, and an ideal location, we offer an updated alternative to TRU off campus housing and for anyone who wants to rent an apartment in a central location with quick access to conveniences and all of Kamloops.
IS THERE SHOPPING AND OTHER SERVICES NEAR THE RESIDENCES?
There are two major shopping centres located one block away. These centres include major stores such as Save-On Foods, Safeway, Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, and all of the major Canadian banks. There are a number of home furnishing stores, along with the most popular food service outlets such as Starbuck’s, Tim Hortons, Earl’s, McDonalds, Boston Pizza, Whitespot and A&W. There are also several hotels located within 1km of Summit Village Residences, for the convenience of family and friends who may be visiting.
HOW FAR IS SUMMIT VILLAGE RESIDENCES FROM THE UNIVERSITY?
Summit Village Residences is only five blocks away from the Thompson Rivers University campus. Unlike many other TRU off-campus housing options in the Kamloops area, our apartment buildings are located on the same plateau as the university, which allows for a nice, level walk to classes. The direct route to campus also takes you through the popular shopping centres, adding to the convenience of the walk to and from classes.
Public transit is also available to and from Summit Village Residences, as the complex is located directly on one of the major bus routes in Kamloops.
ARE INTERNET, PHONE & TV PACKAGES AVAILABLE?
Internet, phone, and TV/cable packages may be purchased directly through your choice of Shaw or Telus as the provider.
WHAT MEASURES ARE IN PLACE FOR RESIDENT SAFETY & SECURITY?
Security cameras are located in all common areas of the property including parking lots and the resident fitness room, to provide for maximum security with minimum infringement on tenant privacy. Electronic key FOB entry systems are in place for both buildings and the amenities areas.
Summit Village Residences has a full-time Building Manager for maintenance and security issues that may arise. You won’t find this level of security in other Kamloops rentals of any kind.
IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?
A reserved parking stall is included with each apartment at no additional cost.
ARE THERE STORAGE LOCKERS AVAILABLE IF I NEED ADDITIONAL SPACE?
A climate-controlled storage locker is included with each apartment. Storage lockers are 3′ x 5′ and will accommodate a bicycle along with other smaller items you may need to store. If you require additional space, we also have a partner relationship with Valleyview Mini Storage, a self-storage facility located approximately five minutes from the property.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN LIVE IN EACH APARTMENT?
Studio and one bedroom apartments will be limited to one person per unit. One bedroom plus study and two bedroom apartments may house up to two persons. All persons living in the apartment will be required to sign the Lease Agreement and leases are joint and several; meaning that apartments are leased by the unit, not by the bed. Tenants remain financially responsible for vacant spaces.
HOW LONG IS THE TERM OF THE LEASE?
Summit Village tenants will be required to sign a 12-month lease.
WHEN DO I FIND OUT IF I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THE RESIDENCE?
We will confirm your acceptance within 3 days of your application.
WHEN CAN I MOVE INTO MY APARTMENT?
You may move into your apartment once you’ve signed the tenancy agreement, paid a damage deposit and first month’s rent.
DO YOU PROVIDE INSURANCE?
Management is not responsible for any damage or loss that occurs to Tenant’s personal property regardless of the cause of the damage or loss. We recommend that you obtain your own renters insurance which typically covers theft, fire, and flood and will protect your belongings in case of an emergency.
DO YOU HELP WITH FINDING ROOMMATES?
Due to the high volume of leasing inquiries, we typically do not assist with finding roommates. In the event tenants need a roommate(s), we encourage you to post online or utilize TRU resources if you are a student.
HOW DO I PAY MY RENT? WHEN IS RENT DUE?
Rent can be paid by post-dated cheque or pre-authorized payments. Rent is due on or before the 1st of every month. You will select your payment method on signing and can change your payment method at any point during your lease, with 30 days written notice.
